I'm surprised that myth is still around... The MythBusters busted it in... *dig* 2004:
"A daddy long-legs was able to bite through the skin of Adam [Savage]'s arm. He reported nothing more than a very mild, short-lived burning sensation. Analysis of the venom proves it does not approach the potency of the black widow spider."

Introducing them in a safe environment seems like a solid first step. Depending on where you live, carefully catching a harvest spider/daddy longlegs with a glass and presenting it to them would be a doable approach. Daddy longlegs don't move 'too' fast and their leg movements are less or a 'trigger'.
They are so light that one can barely feel them walking over one's hand - but you should clear that with them first.
If they like anime, they might enjoy 'So I'm a Spider, So What?'. Having a screen between them might help and there's 24 episodes of it. Plenty of time to change someone's perspective ever so slightly.

o hey I remember you =)
god damn didn't expect anyone to take this so seriously, thanks I guess ?
btw did you know that longlegs have the most dangerous venom? The only reason the don't kill anyone is because they can't bite our skin. =D
